Welcome, Reviewers

Peer reviewers are the backbone of scholarly publishing. Materiale Plastice thanks every reviewer who agrees to assess a manuscript. This page is the role-oriented hub for current and prospective reviewers.

Review Model

Materiale Plastice uses single-blind peer review: the authors do not know who the reviewers are. Reviewers receive the manuscript along with author identifying information and assess the work on:

  • Originality and novelty — does the work meaningfully advance the field?
  • Soundness of methodology — are the materials, methods, and analysis appropriate and reproducible?
  • Validity of results and conclusions — are the conclusions supported by the data?
  • Clarity and structure — is the manuscript well-written and well-organized?
  • Fit for journal scope — is the topic within polymer / plastics / elastomers / composites research?

How To Become a Reviewer

We welcome qualified researchers to join our reviewer pool. To express interest, send the following to editorial@revmaterialeplastice.ro:

  • A short CV (max 2 pages) listing your subject expertise.
  • Your ORCID iD.
  • 2–5 keywords describing your areas of expertise.
  • Optionally: your Web of Science ResearcherID or Scopus Author ID.

Early-career researchers are encouraged to apply via the Early Career Editorial Board recruitment.

Review Checklist

When you accept a review invitation you will receive a structured review form. Please confirm before starting:

  • You have the subject expertise required to assess this manuscript.
  • You have no conflict of interest with the authors or their institutions. Declare any potential conflict to the Editor.
  • You can return the review within the requested deadline (typically 3 weeks).
  • You will keep the manuscript and review process confidential.

Your review should produce one of three recommendations:

  1. Accept as is — the manuscript is ready for publication.
  2. Revisions required — minor or major changes needed before acceptance.
  3. Reject — the manuscript is not suitable for publication in this journal.

Reviewer Ethics

Reviewers are bound by the COPE-aligned principles in our Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement (Section C). In summary, peer reviewers should:

  1. Only agree to review papers within their subject expertise.
  2. Respect the confidentiality of the review process.
  3. Not use information obtained during review for personal or institutional advantage.
  4. Declare all potential conflicting interests.
  5. Not allow personal bias (nationality, religion, gender, commercial interest) to influence the review.
  6. Be objective and constructive in their reviews, refraining from hostile or libelous comments.
  7. Acknowledge that peer review is reciprocal — reviewers should carry out their fair share.
  8. Provide accurate professional information.
  9. Recognize that impersonation during the review process is serious misconduct.

Reviewer Recognition

We recognize the time and expertise reviewers contribute. Recognized contributors:

  • Receive an annual reviewer certificate of acknowledgement.
  • May be invited to the Early Career Editorial Board (ECEB) or Editorial Board.
  • Are eligible to be Guest Editors for Special Issues.

Outstanding reviewers may be featured in the journal's annual reviewer thank-you announcement (with consent).
