Peer Review Process

Materiale Plastice employs a single-blind peer review process: the authors do not know who the reviewers are. Every submitted manuscript is first screened by the Editorial Office for basic formal requirements and adherence to the journal's scope. Manuscripts that pass this initial screening are assigned to an Editor, who invites independent expert reviewers.

Review Outcomes

  • Accept: The manuscript is accepted as is.
  • Minor Revision: The manuscript requires small changes before final acceptance.
  • Major Revision: The manuscript needs significant additional work or data.
  • Reject: The manuscript is not suitable for publication in this journal.

For a full breakdown of the ten-step workflow, see the dedicated Peer Review Process page.

Authorship Criteria

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. According to the ICMJE guidelines, an author must meet all four of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work.
  2. Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
  3. Final approval of the version to be published.
  4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work.

The Corresponding Author is the individual who takes primary responsibility for communication with the journal during the manuscript submission, peer review, and publication process.

Conflicts of Interest

All authors must disclose any financial and personal relationships with other people or organizations that could inappropriately influence (bias) their work. Potential conflicts include employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert testimony, patent applications/registrations, and grants or other funding.

Statement Requirement

A “Conflict of Interest” statement must be included at the end of the manuscript. If no conflict exists, please state: “The authors declare no conflict of interest.”

Plagiarism & Research Integrity

We have a zero-tolerance policy regarding plagiarism. Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, copying text, ideas, or data from another source without proper attribution, and “self-plagiarism” (redundant publication).

  • Screening: All manuscripts submitted to Materiale Plastice are automatically screened using iThenticate and Turnitin within the editorial system.
  • Consequences: If plagiarism is detected during the review process, the manuscript will be rejected immediately. If detected after publication, the article will be retracted following the COPE retraction guidelines.

Corrections & Retractions

The journal recognizes the importance of the integrity of the scientific record. We follow the COPE Retraction Guidelines. See also our Crossmark Policy for how post-publication updates are surfaced.

Corrections (Errata / Corrigenda)

A correction is issued when a small portion of an otherwise reliable publication is misleading or contains errors that do not invalidate the results. Errata cover production errors made by the journal; corrigenda cover author errors.

Retractions

Retractions are considered if the main findings are invalid due to error or fraud, or if the work constitutes plagiarism or redundant publication. The original PDF remains available but is watermarked “RETRACTED” to preserve the historical record.

Data Availability

To foster transparency and reproducibility, Materiale Plastice encourages authors to share the raw data supporting the results of their study. Authors are encouraged to deposit data in a recognized public repository (e.g., Figshare, Dryad, Zenodo) and include a Data Availability Statement in their manuscript providing a link to the data.
