Overview

A very important part of the publication process is the peer review process: a process in which expert volunteer peer reviewers revise and improve the papers.

Materiale Plastice follows the traditional — and most common — review method: Single Blind Peer Review: the authors do not know who the reviewers are.

1. Paper Submission

The corresponding or submitting author submits the paper through the online paper submission system on the Materiale Plastice website: revmaterialeplastice.ro.

2. Paper Registration

The IT specialist gives the paper a registration number, completes the database with additional info regarding the submitted paper, and sends the corresponding author(s) a confirmation email with all info necessary for online tracking of the paper's status.

3. Similarity Test

The Editor-in-Chief verifies the paper for the fulfillment of the similarity criterion using dedicated software (iThenticate / Turnitin).

4. Editor-in-Chief's Evaluation

The Editor-in-Chief performs a subsequent check regarding the fit for the purpose of the journal. After this initial general selection, the Editor-in-Chief assigns the paper to an Editor.

5. Editor's Evaluation

The Editor makes a second verification of the paper: presentation, length, structure, style, composition, and template. If the paper meets quality conditions and depending on the field for which the manuscript is proposed, the Editor distributes it for evaluation to a qualified Reviewer appropriate to the field.

6. Invitation to Reviewer

An invitation email is sent to the Reviewer. The Reviewer checks if the paper is in their area of expertise, if they have any conflicts of interest, and if they can provide an answer in a given period of time. The Reviewer can:

  • Accept the invitation (and receive a deadline for response and a report form), or
  • Reject the invitation (and may recommend someone else).

7. Reviewer's Evaluation

The Reviewer prepares an in-depth report and submits the review to the Editor. Three recommendations are possible:

  1. Accept as it is
  2. Reject
  3. Revisions required

The Reviewer will receive an automated thank-you email.

8. Editor's Decision

The Editor makes a third evaluation and selection and sends a final decision email to the corresponding or submitting author.

  • If revisions are required, authors must submit a revised paper for further review.
  • If the paper is accepted, it is processed and a galley proof is sent to the corresponding author for verification before final production. The checked galley proof should be returned as soon as possible.

9. Production

  1. Generate the DOI code.
  2. Adapt the final version of the paper according to the journal's publishing template.
  3. Archive the final version of the paper in the journal's database.

10. Publication

Online publication on the journal website. Authors are notified by email and may share the article using the DOI link.
