Introduction

Thank you for choosing to submit your research to Materiale Plastice (abbreviated Mater. Plast.). These instructions ensure that we have everything required so your paper can move through peer review, production and publication smoothly.

The journal publishes original scientific papers and guest reviews on topics of great interest in polymer science, plastics engineering, and related applied research. We do not publish memos, technical reports, non-original (literature compilation) papers, or papers already published elsewhere.

Materiale Plastice holds copyright for all published papers. Papers cannot be republished (in whole or in part) in other journals unless the editorial board authorizes it.

Manuscript Preparation

All manuscripts must be written in clear English. Papers are submitted online; submissions by email are not accepted. The paper format should follow the journal's template.

Paper Structure

  1. Paper Title — precise and representative of the article.
  2. Paper Authors — First Name and Last Name of each author.
  3. Paper Abstract — objective representation of the article (200–300 words).
    3.1. Keywords (4–6 keywords).
  4. Paper Content
    • 4.1. Introduction
    • 4.2. Materials and Methods
    • 4.3. Results and Discussions
    • 4.4. Conclusions
    • 4.5. Acknowledgements
    • 4.6. References

Author Names & ORCID

For each author enter First (Given) Names followed by Last (Family / Surname) Name, separated by commas. Ignore diacritics, accents, and special characters in names; treat ligatures as two letters (æ → ae, œ → oe).

Materiale Plastice supports the ORCID iD — a persistent identifier that uniquely identifies each author across their entire research output. Submitted and verified ORCID iDs appear on the article PDF, the website, and in the Crossref DOI metadata.

Register a free ORCID iD at orcid.org/register and submit it along with your name during paper submission.

Content Formatting

  • Formulas, equations and chemical reactions must be numbered with Arabic digits in small parentheses, in chronological order, indicating the placement in the text.
  • Use SI measurement units. Standard abbreviations: grams — g, minutes — min, hours — h, seconds — s, litres — L, pH — pH.
  • The paper will be published as a one-column PDF on the website.

References (Section 4.6)

  • Follow the journal's reference format.
  • Add a DOI every time possible.
  • Use original sources whenever possible.
  • Include the newest references relevant to the work.
  • Reference numbers in the text should directly follow the corresponding information — not always at the end of phrases.
  • References should be in consecutive ascending order.
  • Every reference cited in text, tables or figures must appear in the Reference List at the end of the manuscript.

Paper Submission

Papers must be submitted only via the online system — use the Submit Paper link. Your submission must contain the following items in separate Microsoft Word files:

  1. The Paper — schemes, figures, tables and diagrams integrated in the text.
  2. The Statement undersigned by all authors, confirming the paper complies with ethical research standards (no plagiarism, no conflict of interest, intellectual property and copyright respected, human rights and informed consent, animal-rights statements where applicable) and that the paper has not been previously published nor is under consideration elsewhere.
  3. Other documents, if necessary.

Editorial Workflow

  1. Paper reception — each accepted paper receives a Registration Number and an Online Access Code. The main contact author receives an email with the status of the paper and required information.
    • The Registration Number must be mentioned in all future correspondence and payment documents.
    • The Online Access Code is needed for the Author's Page on the site to view the paper's status.
  2. Technical review.
  3. Paper revised and resubmitted, if necessary.
  4. Acceptance for referees.
  5. Submission to referees.
  6. Reviewer feedback:
    • 6.1. Paper accepted
    • 6.2. Paper revised
    • 6.3. Paper rejected
  7. Outcome:
    • 7a. Portfolio → Published.
    • 7b. Paper revised and resubmitted → Accepted → Published.
    • 7c. Paper will not be published.

Proofs are dispatched by email and should be returned with corrections within 5 working days of receipt. Authors are notified by email about the status of their article at each stage.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

⚠ Open Access Policy

Materiale Plastice is an open-access journal. To provide free access to readers and cover the costs of peer review, copyediting, hosting and indexing, a processing charge applies to accepted papers. There are no submission fees.

Effective May 1, 2025, the publication fee is a unified 1,500 EUR for all countries and regions, applicable to all newly submitted manuscripts. Limited financial assistance is available on a discretionary basis — contact the editorial office to apply.

Articles are normally published 6–8 months after reviewer approval. An optional Emergency Fee of 1,000 EUR reduces this to ~2 months from confirmation of publication-slot availability (total 2,500 EUR). The Editorial Board sets the maximum number of articles published with the emergency fee per issue.
